Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, has been discussing about developments in Syria in a special television channel said, "The US gives weapon to the PYD and YPG, full-stop. It is alright if they say 'we made a mistake by giving them weapon until today’."

Explaining the latest developments in Syria, Çavuşoğlu evaluated the issue of ceasefire throughout the country, the US giving weapons to the PKK, the operation of El Bab and Manbij.

Çavuşoğlu, said that the talks in Astana will be under Turkish supervision, "We are working on the provision and follow-up of the ceasefire, and if there is a party that violates, what sanctions will be applied. At this moment a truce is spreading country-wide and supervising throughout the country and secondly negotiations between the regime and the opposition begin in Astana. But this is not an alternative to Geneva, it is a complementary step. We are working on the political solution, which now includes the Geneva Declaration, the UN resolution numbered 2254."

Stating that they brought oppositions and Russia together Çavuşoğlu continued as, "We together with Russia will be the guarantor in the negotiation signing with opposition but who will be the guarantor of the regime? Of course, Russia. Russia will sign the same agreement with regime and Russia will be the guarantor of this. Obeying to the ceasefire, resuming negotiations for a political solution."

"The interviews in Astana will be under our supervision." said Çavuşoğlu then added: "For the political solution the opposition groups should do the negotiations with the regime. We believe that Assad will not be able to provide unity in Syria after that. Negotiations with Assad is not in consideration. First we try to maintain ceasefire. After the ceasefire, political negotiations will start. According to which the two sides will determine the negotiating committee itself. But we have our conditions. The YPG is a terrorist organization and the opposition does not accept it. A terrorist organization should not be involved in political negotiations.”
