People from Diyarbakır reacted to the gambling with the name of the National Lottery and the New Year celebrations which trying to be widespread among Muslims.

Stating that the New Year celebrations are projects that the Westerns have imposed to corrupt Muslim societies, people from Diyarbakır say that such evils to harm society are forbidden by the Islamic religion.

Ahmet Yüksel, who said that it would be beneficial to spend the New Year night with worship, added as, "New Year is the anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ. In that day we have to live with salaah, salaam, and night prayer. It is peril for Muslims if we do like unbelievers, decorate the pine at the beginning of the year, kill turkey. The Prophet of Allah said, "Whoever liken of himself to another nation, he will be from them”. It is a great abasement that we do liken ourselves to disbelievers, it is not suitable for Muslims.”

"National lottery is our national shame"

The national lottery is a national shame, and the lottery is a game played with the hand of the state, Yüksel concluded his words as, "National Lottery is our national shame. Lottery is a situation that is not suitable for Muslims. There is a chance in it, it is forbidden. But it is irrational to play it. Mustafa Ateş, who said that the New Year celebrations are against Islam, said "In these situations, having fun when people die at this time is wrong as Islamic and humanistic. We don’t celebrate New Year and celebration is forbidden. Our new year is hegira. However, today, it is not related to Islam, to cut turkey, to have fun. This is the New Year for Christians. My Muslim brothers and sisters must not celebrate."

According to Islamic belief, Muslims should not be like Jews and Christians, Kemal Erdem said: "At the beginning of the year, Muslims should be adhered to their own religion. It is forbidden to liken religion like Jews and Christians. Muslims should take the example of their prophet. Muslims have their own festivities. Celebrating the conquest of Mecca instead of celebrating the New Year. Celebrating the New Year is an unbecoming behavior to the Muslims."

"They give a lot of money to gambling"

Abdullah Bozkuş said that people take the National Lottery and give children’s livelihood to gambling, saying, "I believe that the New Year should not be celebrated by Muslims because there is no such celebration in our traditions and in our customs and most importantly in our beliefs. Muslims should definitely stay away from such things. New Year celebrations are projects that are consciously imposed by Europe and the West on Muslims" (ILKHA)
