The bookstore operators pointed out that book purchases are getting smaller day by day due to easy access to information sources provided by technological developments, said that this situation also prevented a conscious reading.

The bookstore operators, said that the rates of reading books in the previous years were high, argued that one of the causes of moral corruption in the society was caused by the lack of love, respect and loyalty to the books.

Eyüp Özbas, a bookstore operator say that the engagement with the book was different in the old days, but today, the love, respect, loyalty and popularity to the book are decreasing.

Özbas said, "The devotion, love and respect to the book were different in the past. The book was read and analyzed. When the message in the book was received. The misfortune was being applied and nowadays the love, respect, loyalty and popularity are decreasing. Especially in this, the social media has a lot of influence. The society is trying to find satisfaction on the smartphone and internet pages. They are trying to find what they are looking for, but they do not find it properly. The distance between the internet and the book is as different as chalk and cheese. You are able to analyze the source in the book but in social media you are looking at without getting what you want."

Özbaş expressed that the society has degenerated after being away from reading of books, said, "This is because people have turned their backs on the Qur'an. A bookless society has emerged. Everything became daily. The media hasn’t give that kind of contentment, that deep knowledge. Those who hasn’t read and understand being imposed damage in social media. The moral corruption in the society is entirely due to the fact that it has been ripped off the book and turned to social media."

Another book seller, Ramazan Yılmaz, stated that only the purchases had fallen as the love for the books did not decrease.

Yılmaz pointed out that the book widen reader horizon, "There were a lot of books before, now there is love for the books but the purchase is very small. A good book is a good idea, a friend who enlightens the horizon. The best example for this is Qu’an. There is a great deal of interest in reading religious books. The moral corruption in which society comes is a departure from the Qur'an, and society is faced with various kinds of problems today as it moves away from Qur'an."

Speaking about the positive and negative effects of social media on book sales, Yılmaz continued:

"No matter how much book sales are on the social media, the effect of the reading rate is very negative. There is no reading the books. One who buy books are again directed to social media. The books only appear as an appearance on the racks. Information corruption, ignorance and corruption happen in this way. Let the readers attain the purposeful truth and obtain the truth." (ILKHA)
