President of Diyanet Mehmet Görmez attended to the 26th period European Council of Fatwa and Research meeting.

President of Diyanet Mehmet Görmez in his opening speech of meeting where organized with the attend of many scholars around the world and held the problems of minor Muslim population in Europe, in his press statement after the meeting, expressed his appreciation that Istanbul became a center of meeting for scholars, said that it is upset on other hand that in many Muslim Countries scholars can’s come together and speak about their issues.

Görmez said, “The title of meeting usually ‘how can we bring the peace forward? How can we protect Muslims against attacks on Islam?’ It is upset that those kind of scientific meetings have turned into a reaction manner, turned into self-defacement. We need to look at forward. Again all Muslims need a new Islamic peace law. Actually Islamic law is a law that constructed peace in history. But the bad conditions which Muslims are got in, caused the switch of peace and war. Muslims started to talk on how they can protect themselves from war, terror and violence. How can we struck a new peace for the future of Muslims as universal? This issue need to get into consideration. War is an incidental state for Islamic civilization. It is something bad. Also in Quran it mention about war in a bad way. It is main in the Islamic civilization to raise peace. To make peace sovereign on the earth. But some wrong Islamic mentalities centered a wrong idea that fighting till the end day is the main purpose.”

 “Even global powers are in a try to make our geography into a war zone, still we should strive for peace.” Said Görmez and emphasized this doesn’t mean that we are not going to defend ourselves.

What our people have felt for the July 15 night, Islamic world felt the same

Görmez said that, “There are very huge Islamic scholars in here. Since July 15 night Islamic scholars have expressed their support with phone calls, with letters and with correspondences. What our people have felt that night, those people felt the same. They shed tears with us, cried and prayed. They said this, ‘there is no any Muslim country exist that we will show with hope for our future to Muslim children, apart from Turkiye. If this our hope breaks then there will be no hope that we will show to our children.’ They also wonder how this betrayer movement used religion and how they have cheated on people. We try to tell them as much as we can.”

President of International Union of Muslim Scholars Yusuf al-Qaradawi and Secretary General of the Union of Muslim Scholars Ali al-Qaradaghi and many scholars from around the world have attended to the meeting. (ILKHA)
