Speaking about some circles’ endeavors to blemish Islamic congregations on the pretext of FETÖ, Assistant Professor at Dicle University, Head of Department of Religion Education in Theology Faculty, Davut Işıkdoğan said that those who bear faith in their hearts took the streets at that night.

Işıkdoğan said especially secular and leftist circles on the pretext of FETÖ they evaluate all congregations the same way and try to defame and target them all.

“Nothing urges people to lie before tanks heroically save faith”

Saying that coups also aim to prevent people from improving themselves piously, Işıkdoğan said: “yet, if country develops in general means, it will progress and lead Islamic world. At the core of the issue no matter what they say, no matter psychological and sociological views are voiced; there is only one assertion; they aim to scotch Islamic world.  It was God’s wisdom that this coup attempt was thwarted. NGOs, believers in Turkey and we all massed in the streets. There were some others queuing up in front of the ATMs, supermarkets, gas stations and shopping malls on the other side there were faithful people having beards, wearing hijab and turbaned men paying no mind to this kind of things. Nothing urges people to lie before tanks save faith. People living in Diyarbakır a city which has been a terror region for a long time took the streets at that time of the night. What urged them to take the street was their faith in their heart.”

Islamic congregations had a remarkable role on quelling the coup”

Reacting to the endeavors targeting the Islamic congregations over FETÖ, Işıkdoğan said: “while congregations had a great role for quelling the coup, we see both in media and other spheres a barrage targeting Islamic congregations over FETÖ. I just wonder what makes these people to go ahead when something happens against Islamic lands or state or people. This must be scrutinized. Now when I watch TV, I see some talk against congregations or cults or Bediuzzaman Said Nursi. You can see nothing except faith in his books. As far as I understand these secular and leftist groups try to purge all pious sects from society on the pretext of FETÖ.”

“Muslims in the streets tried to display what they actually claim for”

Pointing that a new spirit has sprouted up after 15 July coup attempt, Işıkdoğan said: “Muslims amassed in the cities with flags in their hands. They raised the voice of Islam with takbeers. But now you witness a discussion going on in media arguing that if these people took the streets for the sake of democracy why did they shout takbeers? We want to answer this that people tried to display what they claim for.”

Işıkdoğan said as his last words that: “people may have a temporary wooziness after FETÖ. But I know that those efforts made for Allah’s cause will get a result. We may be toppled by some obstacles. But if Islamic congregations do their duties flawlessly Allah will lead them in the right path and they will never be given any harm.”
