Recently, the claims over juridical plots, similar to the case of Elazığ Ihya-Der, set against Islamic NGOs based in Adana have covered by media outlets. After launching a probe and displaying legal activities as illegal activities, astonished lawyers and human rights institutions took action against indictment prepared by prosecutors.

Assessing the indictment accepted by Adana 2nd High Criminal Court, lawyers and Human Rights institutions show reaction to these experiences.

Head office of Human Rights Community released a written statement regarding the issue. It is said in the statement that: “an indictment prepared charging some Islamic NGOs operating in Adana and some members of media organs by Adana Chief Public Prosecutor`s office and this indictment accepted by Adana High Criminal Court. The institutions named in the indictment are completely operating in legal framework and they are all well-known NGOs in the region. All activities subjected in the indictment are open to public, transparent and legal activities.”

“It might be a planned example of plots and compasses of some centers leaked in Police and juridical system.”

Remarking that all legal activities introduced as illegal and it might be a planes example of plots and compasses of some centers leaked in Police and juridicial system, it is underlined that: “helping organizations, Holy Birth Events, NGOs routine meetings, press conferences, public conferences, social-cultural events and other normal activities of an ordinary NGO considered as illegal activities and members of NGOs and authorities are being charged with ‘being a member of armed organization` that this brings our mind the recent discussions, going on public agenda, over some unseen centers, stationed in police and juridical system,  plotting, filing lawsuits and preparing indictment against some institutions.”

“Repressing and condemning NGOs` members and authorities with cases, devoid of evidences and juridical justifications, is violation of human rights”

Underscoring the fact that there are some centers try to maintain power in the state by using juridical system, it is said in the statement that: “now, it is understood well that this kind of methods, experienced in more recent times, using juridical systems as a mean of weapon, aiming to establish hegemony on bureaucracy and juridical institutions don`t target only Islamic NGOs, which are serving legally, but dark powers aim to take whole community under captivity and design the public. Describing the social dimension of activities of NGOs as ‘being a member of armed organization` to say the least it can be regarded as fortunetelling. Repressing and condemning NGOs members and authorities with bogus cases, devoid of legal evidences and juridical justifications, is purely of a violation of human rights. Preliminarily, faith and expression freedom, right of organization, conducting political activities, right of meeting and right of demonstration has been clearly violated. Subjecting the workers of media organs due to their duty of journalism is also a violation of press freedom.” (ILKHA)
