"Supreme Court of appeals didn't accept the existence of Ergenekon"

Supreme Court of Appeals for the 16th circuit announced its decision for highlight Ergenekon case in which former chief of staff İlker Başbuğ and other suspects in total 274 being judged. According to the court of appeals Ergenekon organization never existed and rejected the local court’s ruling. According to Supreme Court of Appeals “Ergenekon Terror Organization” did not exist at all because it was not known when and by whom the “Ergenekon Terror Organization” was founded. “Its crimes and hierarchic structure was not unveiled” and “its leader was not determined. And other several contradictions in the case are mentioned including in the formation of the local court, investigation, trial, evidence collection and fair hearing for the accused.

Veli Küçük and Levent Ersöz were prominent suspects of the case.

The case remembered with dark events during 90s, especially linked with murders by unknown assailants and whose names never fell off the agenda, retired brigadiers Veli Küçük and Levent Ersöz who were sentenced by local court verdict, was rejected by court of appeals.

Levent Ersöz is known by public with the allegations acid wells and murders by unknown assailants.

As it is remembered during his duty term in the region, Ersöz had scores of people executed, had them thrown into acid wells. During the trial process, with the effort of Şırnak Bar Association chairman Nuserivan Elçi, Silopi Prosecution Office has ordered to excavate some certain areas thereabout Cizre and Silopi districts. On March 9 2009, three acid wells were exposed and 17 pieces of bones, a skull and some fabrics were found. And in some other excavations in Cizre, 20 pieces of bones were found. And in other excavations many human bodies, which bore heavy torture marks, were found.

Yalçın Küçük, one of the masterminds of Abdullah Öcalan’s ideology, was also among the suspects. As it is known, Yalçın Küçük and Doğu Perinçek, who once had very close teis with Abdullah Öcalan, have already been released. (ILKHA)
