After her village was ravaged in 90s in which she was born and grew up and had to move to Bağlar district of Diyarbakır, Ayniye Kaya has lost her house this time again. Ayniye Kaya, who was threatened by armed PKK militants to evacuate her house during partial curfew imposed in Bağlar district, has got shocked with the devastation of her house when she returned her house.

Collecting scraps to earn a livelihood, Ayniye Kaya told ILKHA the grievances she has experienced.

Saying that she was wandering the streets to collect used things and made for home desperately, Kaya said that armed PKK members came to her house that night. She added that: “At about 1 o’clock pm. armed guys came to my house and wanted me to leave the house. For fear my life I left the house. I went to my daughter’s house on foot. After I stayed there for one week, I came back to my home and found without windows and doors; my house all ruined. I discarded all my carpets. No one can do this to someone else; I don’t think even infidels do this to infidels. I am now in a helpless situation and don’t know what to do.”

“My grandchild still cries that a bomb would explode”

Indicating that due to ongoing clashes her grandchildren are thrilled with psychologically, Kaya said: “The night the conflicts flared up, my grandchildren cried out all night. Their father couldn’t calm them down. One of them still lives in fear that sometimes screams ‘the bomb will explode’. We don’t know what to do. “

“We were doing well in the village and we earned our livelihood easily”

Saying that their village, in Kulp district, was set on fire and they had to move to Bağlar district in 90s, adding that she was missing good old days, Kaya said:

“We were doing well in the village and we could earn our livelihood easily. But here we have nothing; we have all become miserable here. When we first moved here we had nothing and we survived with the help of our neighbors. And now I am collecting old stuff that people used and sell them to junk dealer. I earn my livelihood this way. I have to pay the rent for the house I am living in every month. The house now is unlivable.” (ILKHA)
