Chilean plane experiences turbulence, injuring passengers during Sydney-Auckland flight
A LATAM Airlines flight traveling from Sydney, Australia to Auckland, New Zealand encountered severe turbulence on Monday, resulting in injuries to at least 50 passengers.
Officials attributed the incident to a "strong movement" caused by a technical event during the flight. The exact nature of the technical event remains undisclosed by LATAM Airlines in their statement.
The plane, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, landed safely at Auckland Airport as scheduled. Emergency services were prepared upon arrival, with paramedics tending to passengers who sustained injuries.
Approximately 50 people received medical attention at the scene, primarily for minor injuries. However, 13 individuals required further treatment and were transported to a local hospital. There are reports of one passenger in serious condition.
Despite the incident, the aircraft continued its journey to its final destination, Santiago, Chile, after the necessary medical attention was provided to the injured passengers. (ILKHA)
