The head of the union highlighted the steps taken to facilitate their entry and mentioned their request to the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Samah Shukry, for permission to visit the city of Rafah. The proposed delegation includes prominent academics and representatives of parliamentary and human rights organisations.

Using his personal account on the X platform (formerly Twitter), Al-Qaradaghi expressed his appreciation for all efforts made to facilitate the necessary procedures. He noted their persistent work to secure official permits to travel and enter Gaza.

Al-Qaradaghi underlined the importance of the Rafah crossing as the main route to Gaza, stressing the need for many to visit their families and access essential services and medical care.

He expressed his hope for a smooth crossing and expressed his desire to reach Gaza without obstacles. Al-Qaradaghi mentioned that they had submitted the request for the visit several days ago and reiterated their full willingness to sacrifice in support of the heroic people of Gaza.

Earlier this month, Al-Qaradaghi announced the formation of a delegation from the union intending to enter the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing, expressing readiness to bear any cost, even if it meant risking his life. He underscored that the formation of the delegation reflects the union's awareness of religious duty and genuine solidarity with the Palestinian people's ongoing tragedy.

In a separate interview with "Arabi21," Al-Qaradaghi indicated that the union had requested Egypt and the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Ahmed El-Tayeb, to lead them to Rafah and subsequently to Gaza. He confirmed that the request had been sent over a month ago.

The Israeli occupation continues its atrocities in the Gaza Strip for the 111th consecutive day, targeting homes, medical crews, and journalists. The toll has risen to over 26,000 martyrs and more than 63,000 wounded, alongside extensive destruction of buildings and infrastructure. (ILKHA)
