The Coast Guard boats were dispatched to the region after receiving information about a group of irregular migrants stranded in life rafts off the coasts of Muğla, Antalya and Çanakkale.
The rescued migrants were safely brought ashore and provided with the necessary medical care and humanitarian assistance. They were then transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing and registration.
In a separate operation, the Turkish Coast Guard also intercepted another 33 irregular migrants attempting to land near the Ayvacık district of Çanakkale. These individuals were also taken into custody and processed in accordance with established procedures.
These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges and tensions in the Aegean, where irregular migration remains a complex and often dangerous issue.
The Turkish Coast Guard plays a crucial role in responding to these situations, rescuing those in distress and upholding international maritime law. (ILKHA)
