The rescue operations were carried out in the regions of Çanakkale, İzmir, and Balıkesir, according to a statement by Turkish authorities.
Upon receiving information about irregular migrants stranded in life rafts, Coast Guard boats were promptly dispatched to the specified locations. The teams successfully brought the 63 irregular migrants ashore, ensuring their safety.
Furthermore, an additional 93 irregular migrants were apprehended off the coasts of Çanakkale and İzmir. Following the necessary procedures, the captured migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.
These operations highlight the ongoing challenges faced by migrants in the region and the efforts of Turkish authorities to address humanitarian concerns arising from pushback incidents by Greek forces. (ILKHA)
