In a phone call with the religious scholar, PM Barzani conveyed his best wishes for Qaradghi's success in serving Islam and defending the rights of oppressed nations, including the Kurdish people.

The congratulatory call followed Qaradghi's election as the leader of IUMS during its sixth congress held in Doha, Qatar. Qaradghi secured an overwhelming 91 percent of the votes, succeeding Yousif Qaradhawi, who passed away in 2022.

The International Union of Muslim Scholars, established in 2004, plays a significant role in conveying the message of Islam and providing guidance to Muslims in understanding the provisions of their religion.
