John Kirby, the national security spokesperson, stated that the U.S. plans to bring this matter to the United Nations Security Council. Kirby emphasized the significance of North Korea's arms transfer to Russia, considering it a "significant and concerning escalation."
The United States has announced its intention to impose additional sanctions against those involved in facilitating these arms deals.
According to Kirby, Russian forces reportedly used at least one of the Korean missiles in an attack on Ukraine on December 30, with more launched in a subsequent aerial attack.
Kirby also mentioned that while Iran has not supplied close-range ballistic missiles to Russia, the U.S. believes Russia intends to acquire missile systems from Iran.
Russia has previously relied on Iran for various weaponry, including drones, in its conflict with Ukraine. (ILKHA)
