The challenging weather has significantly impacted transportation in the region, according to local reports.
In Bitlis, the Director of Road and Transport Services for the Special Provincial Administration, Ümit Kurtkan, reported that 10 villages have become inaccessible due to heavy snow. Despite efforts to open 35 village roads, snow-fighting teams are actively working to clear the remaining routes.
In Van, the Metropolitan Municipality revealed that adverse weather conditions affected 360 out of 451 neighborhood and hamlet roads. Teams have successfully reopened 360 of these routes, with efforts ongoing to clear the remaining 91 roads still closed.
Meanwhile, in Muş, the Secretary General of the Special Provincial Administration, Şeyhmus Yentür, shared that 41 village roads have been reopened after closure due to heavy snowfall.
According to information from the Special Provincial Administration, efforts by snow-fighting teams have resulted in the reopening of 31 out of 32 settlements that were initially closed due to the severe winter weather.
The situation underscores the significant challenges posed by the ongoing winter weather, with authorities and snow-fighting teams working diligently to restore normalcy and ensure access to affected areas in eastern Türkiye. (ILKHA)
