In the first nine months of 2023, a total of 411,675 traffic accidents occurred, resulting in the tragic loss of 2,253 lives and injuries to 269,091 individuals nationwide.

The statistics further highlight that in the month of September alone, 50,182 traffic accidents transpired. Out of these incidents, 34,272 people sustained injuries, while 307 lives were tragically lost.

A noteworthy detail from the report is that, over the course of the first nine months of 2023, it was found that 1,265 drivers involved in accidents resulting in death and injury were under the influence of alcohol.

These figures underscore the ongoing challenges in road safety within Türkiye, emphasizing the need for continued efforts to enhance traffic regulations, enforcement, and public awareness to reduce accidents and prevent further loss of life on the nation's roads.
