Fidan and Blinken discussed the latest developments in Palestine, addressing the pressing issues at hand, as revealed by Turkish diplomatic sources.
Prior to the conversation with Blinken, Minister Fidan conducted phone calls with several key regional counterparts.
These included discussions with Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Furhan al-Saud, Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki, and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
The recent surge in tensions came as Hamas launched Operation Al Aqsa Flood on Saturday, citing a surprise, multifront attack in response to the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and increased settler violence.
The operation involved rocket launches and the reported capture of numerous Israelis. In retaliation, the Israeli army initiated Operation Swords of Iron against civilian targets in the Gaza Strip.
Medical sources in Gaza reported at least 232 Palestinian fatalities, while israeli authorities put the death toll at 300.
US President Joe Biden, responding to the situation, announced that he directed his national security team to maintain communication with leaders, including those of Egypt, Türkiye, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, following the Palestinian operation against Zionist targets. (ILKHA)
