Speaking at a symposium on a new constitution, Erdoğan said: “We will never stop working until we provide our nation with a new constitution, which is an element of our goal of the Century of Türkiye.”

Underscoring that the biggest wound inflicted by the September 12 administration on the Turkish nation was the 1982 constitution, Erdoğan stressed that although a number of amendments have been made in it, it is still a post-coup constitution, and added that they launched the works of a new constitution under the roof of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye almost 10 years ago.

Noting that their proposal of completely rewriting of the constitution could not be realized because of the uncompromising stance of the opposition, Erdoğan stated: “Nevertheless, we have never gone back on our promise we gave our nation. We have never deviated from our ideal of providing our nation with a constitution they deserve.”
