These incidents unfolded across four separate events, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by migrants attempting to cross the Aegean Sea.
Prompted by intelligence regarding the presence of a group of irregular migrants stranded in life rafts along the coasts of Aydın and İzmir, the Turkish Coast Guard promptly dispatched their vessels to the identified locations. The operational teams exhibited exemplary professionalism in swiftly locating and assisting those in distress.
As a result of these efforts, a total of 91 irregular migrants, who had been forced into Turkish territorial waters following encounters with Greek elements, were successfully rescued and brought to safety on Turkish soil. This successful rescue operation underscored the Turkish Coast Guard's commitment to safeguarding lives at sea.
Moreover, in another operation conducted near the Foça district of Izmir, the Coast Guard detected and subsequently captured an additional 42 irregular migrants aboard a rubber boat. This interception serves as a testament to the Coast Guard's vigilance and dedication to upholding maritime security.
Following the necessary legal protocols, the apprehended irregular migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management. (ILKHA)
