In an interview with the Rada TV channel, Zelensky said that Ukraine is prepared to "fight for a long time" if it can avoid losing too many people.
Zelensky also said that he is not interested in seeing the conflict spill over into Russian territory. He believes that this would only isolate Ukraine and make it more difficult to achieve a negotiated settlement.
The Russian Defense Ministry has claimed that Ukraine has suffered heavy losses in recent months. The ministry said that Ukraine lost more than 43,000 soldiers, 26 aircraft, and about 5,000 pieces of weapons in June and July.
The Ukrainian government has not commented on these figures.
The war in Ukraine has been going on since 24 February 2022, and there is no end in sight. Both sides have suffered heavy losses, and the civilian death toll is rising. (ILKHA)
