The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that the epicenter of the quake was situated approximately 115 km (72 miles) to the west-southwest of Heraklion.
The seismic activity occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles) beneath the earth's surface. Notably, the tremors were felt across various areas including Crete itself, the eastern Peloponnese, and the South Aegean regions.
