The report was adopted by the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee with 47 votes in favor, no votes against, and 10 abstentions. It pointed out that Türkiye's alignment with the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy has reached an all-time low of 7%, the lowest among all enlargement countries.
The report emphasized that significant changes in Türkiye's government policies are necessary to make progress on its EU accession. It also called for exploring new avenues of cooperation.
Tunç expressed concern that the report was drafted unilaterally and influenced by certain marginalized circles. He expressed hope that the European Parliament's General Assembly would adopt a more objective, fair, consistent, data-based, and scientific approach toward Türkiye.
