The initiative, a collaboration between the Presidency's Directorate of Communications and the State Railways of the Republic of Turkey (TCDD), aims to mark the seventh anniversary of this significant moment in Türkiye's history.
The train has a 15 July image and logo on its wagons as well as the inscription of “July 15 Victory of Democracy", which was prepared in cooperation with Presidency’s Directorate of Communications and TCDD. The train departed from Ankara High Speed Train Station with 411 passengers towards Istanbul.
Passengers coming to the platform to get on the train, experienced emotional moments when they saw the train covered for the commemoration of July 15. Passengers, who took selfies, said they had great excitement to participate in the train’s first tour.
The July 15 coup attempt was a failed attempt by a faction of the Turkish Armed Forces to overthrow the democratically elected government of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The coup was defeated by the Turkish people, who took to the streets to defend democracy.
The July 15 commemoration train is a symbol of the Turkish people's victory against the coup and their commitment to democracy. The train is also a way to remember the victims of the coup and to honor their sacrifice. (ILKHA)
