The meeting, which was held via a video conference, focused on various crucial items, including cybersecurity, e-Government initiatives, satellite communications, and the development of fiber infrastructure.
Uraloğlu stressed the importance of effectively utilizing information technology and communication services to achieve productivity across sectors such as the economy, industry, defense, agriculture, education, and transportation. He highlighted significant advancements in the communication sector within Turkey, stating that the number of mobile subscribers has exceeded 90 million, surpassing the entire population.
Additionally, the country has reached a remarkable milestone of 90.6 million broadband subscribers. The count of fiber internet subscribers has seen substantial growth, with an increase of approximately 18 percent over the past year, now surpassing 5.7 million.
The government places great importance on providing equitable access to information and communication technologies, particularly for disabled groups, while also striving to reduce regional disparities. To bridge the digital divide between different regions and expand the communication infrastructure, the Turkish government has undertaken the installation of fixed and mobile broadband infrastructure in approximately 4,000 rural settlements.
Uraloğlu referred to the proposal put forth by Kazakhstan, recalling the idea of establishing the Turkic Council Digitalization Center and creating the Turkic Metaverse. He expressed his belief that this initiative would usher in a new era in the field of information technology for the Turkic world.
Highlighting the potential of the Metaverse, which enables global connectivity and collaboration beyond geographical boundaries, Minister Uraloğlu emphasized its significance in various sectors. He expressed his confidence that the establishment of the Digitalization Center and the creation of the Turkic Metaverse would contribute to the technological development and progress of countries.
“The vision is to actively participate in the digital transformation of Turkic states and ensure their presence in the rapidly evolving Metaverse world,” he underlined.
Uraloğlu also expressed enthusiasm and eagerness to collaborate to achieve this collective vision. (ILKHA)
