According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Department of Health, the number of patients receiving treatment at Jubilee District Hospital has now reached 179, highlighting the severity of the outbreak. Out of these patients, 18 individuals have been transferred to Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital and Steve Biko Academic Hospital for further medical attention.
The data provided in the statement also sheds light on the extent of the cholera outbreak. To date, there have been 29 laboratory-confirmed cases of cholera, indicating the presence of the disease within the affected area.
