According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of Türkiye, the earthquake occurred at 19:06 TSI, with a depth of 7 km. The epicenter was located at 37.938 degrees north latitude and 36.304 degrees east longitude.

Earlier this year in February, a significantly more devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, resulting in a tragic loss of over 50,000 lives, with 100,000 people injured and 13.5 million individuals displaced. The earthquake also caused damage to 4 million buildings.

In response to the February earthquake, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change assessed 763,000 buildings for damage. Across ten provinces in Turkey, 41,791 buildings were severely damaged or destroyed, leaving approximately 150,000 people without homes.

During the February earthquake, numerous individuals were trapped under collapsed buildings, leading to challenging rescue efforts. (ILKHA)
