Emergency crews, including water trucks from the local Directorate of Forestry, water cannon vehicles from the police, and Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD) teams, are on site attempting to extinguish the flames.

The fire spread rapidly, covering the eight-story building at around 10:30 pm local time.

While there has been no official statement about casualties, some reports indicate that residents jumped from their balconies and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The Izmir Governor, Selim Köşger, stated that all residents, living in 40 different units, were evacuated following the fire. (ILKHA)
