Soylu stated that the debris removal works continued and said: “Our state is working on the field with great effort."

Soylu said that 48, 448 people had been killed, adding that 6,660 victims were foreign nationals.

On 6 February, at 04:17 local time, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck southern and central Türkiye and northern and western Syria.

It was followed by a magnitude 7.7 earthquake at 13:24. This earthquake was centered 95 km (59 mi) north-northeast from the first.

It was felt as far as Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Cyprus, and the Black Sea coast of Türkiye. There were more than 10,000 aftershocks in the three weeks that followed.
