Volodymyr Zelenskyy highly appreciated the assistance provided by the United States to Ukraine after the start of the full-scale Russian aggression, according to the statement.
“We are extremely grateful to you for the support. The United States has been powerfully supporting us since the first days of this war not only with weapons but also on the financial front. We really appreciate it,” Zelensky emphasized.
He noted the decision of the U.S. administration announced on February 24 to allocate USD 9.9 billion in direct budget support to our country in 2023.
During her surprise visit, Yellen announced the transfer of an additional amount of over $1.2 billion in economic assistance to Ukraine.
“One year ago, some believed that Russia would secure a quick and decisive victory over Kyiv. Russian forces had advanced within sight of this very school. But today, Ukraine still stands. The victory that Putin expected has turned into a strategic failure. Putin’s troops have faced defeats on the battlefield. The Russian economy is weaker and more isolated. And NATO and our global coalition stand united behind Ukraine,” Yellen said.
Yellen noted that the United States had provided $13 billion in economic assistance to Ukraine and added: “Today, I am proud to announce the transfer of an additional amount of over $1.2 billion. That’s the first tranche of about $10 billion in direct budget support that the United States will provide in the coming months.” (ILKHA)
