“I met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara today. I expressed Malaysia's solidarity as a friendly country during bitter and difficult times, as well as its unwavering commitment, especially in helping Turkish citizens affected by the earthquake disaster,” Anwar Ibrahim wrote on Twitter.

“I also conveyed the condolences of the people of Malaysia and informed about the form of assistance that has been provided by the Malaysian Government,” he added.

Malaysia has collected about $6.1 million in humanitarian aid to help the earthquake-affected people in Turkey and Syria.

The aid included contributions of US$1 million each from the Malaysian government and the Sultan of Johor with donations from other parties including local companies making up the remaining portion. (ILKHA)
