The incident took place on Saturday evening at Jwak village, Panyam district of Mangu LGA, after the zonal rally of the party which was held in Pankshin, according to local reports.

“99 PDP supporters, who were going for the rally were involved in the accident, but 16 died while 83 sustained various degrees of injury,” said RC Peter Langsan, the Public Education Officer of the Plateau Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

“The injured victims were taken to hospitals in Panyam and Mangu town, both in Mangu LGA,” Langsan added.

Road accidents are common on Nigeria’s poorly maintained roads mostly due to speeding and disregard for traffic rules. (ILKHA)
