Speaking at the Target 2053 Net Zero Emission “R&D and Innovation Move” Coordination Meeting, Erdoğan said: “We are entering the Century of Türkiye strongly thanks to the distance we have covered in science and technology.”
“We used to convene the Supreme Board of Science and Technology periodically during my premiership to plan our long-term science and technology policies. I myself used to preside over these biannual meetings. I believe that the works carried out by this board played a very important role in the level our country has now reached in science and technology. We have obtained results that do us proud in various areas such as high-quality research and development sources, e-state project, gifted children’s education, energy technologies, medical biotechnology, and national innovation,” Erdoğan said.
“Türkiye’s works and achievements are watched closely”
Noting that the Supreme Board of Science and Technology was replaced with the Board of Science, Technology and Innovation Policies upon Türkiye’s transition to the Presidential System of Government, Erdoğan said: “Our country’s priorities have changed in the meantime. We have not only achieved the goals laid out 20 years, 15 years or 10 years ago, but we have also gone beyond them in many areas. This is best evidenced by our success in defense industry, the locomotive of science and technology. The science and technology activities, spanning all of our 81 provinces, yield new outcomes on a daily basis. Now there is a Türkiye which doesn’t have to envy foreigners any more but there is rather a Türkiye whose works and achievements are closely watched.”
“2023, the symbol of our country’s initiatives in democracy and development, will inshallah become a year when the majority of our projects, in which we have put immense efforts, will be yielding outcomes,” Erdoğan stated. “We are entering the Century of Türkiye strongly thanks to the distance we have covered in science and technology. Now, we have set our sights on 2053. We are shaping our 2053 vision, the objectives of which we have gradually started to determine, around the steps towards green development, which is of close concern to our country along with the whole world.”
Erdoğan further stressed: “Just like our current achievements, we will also materialize our 2053 vision, which we have built on the backbone of green development, under the guidance of science and technology. Our goal is to reach net zero emissions by 2053 as we have undertaken in the Paris Climate Agreement.” (ILKHA)
