The Russian Ministry of Defense said their air defense shot down what they called a Ukrainian drone.
The local governor Roman Busargin reported no damage to civilian infrastructure after the attack.
Engels Air Force base in Saratov, deep inside Russia, is home to many strategic bombers used to bombard Ukraine, including Tu-95 and Tu-160.
In early December, Ukrainian drones successfully targeted this same base, reportedly damaging two Tu-95s. (ILKHA)
