While service imports were 22.8 billion dollars in 2020, it increased by 22.3% in 2021 to 27.9 billion dollars.
Transport services had the highest share with 70.2% in services exports
According to the Extended Balance of Payments Services Classification, while the share of transport in total exports was 64.6% in 2020, it was 70.2% in 2021. The "other business services" was ranked at the second with 11.7% in 2020 and 10.1% in 2021. "Telecommunication, computer and information services" was the third with the share of 7.4% in 2021.
Transport services exports were 24 billion 420 million dollars in 2021
While services exports in transport, which had the highest share in total service exports, was 16 billion 87 million dollars in 2020, it was increased to 24 billion 420 million dollars by 51.8% in 2021. Telecommunication, computer and information services exports increased by 21.4% compared to the previous year and reached 2 billion 567 million dollars.
Transport services had the highest share with 39.1% in services imports too
The share of transport in total imports was 35% in 2020 while it was 39.1% in 2021. The "other business services" was ranked at the second with 21.2% in 2020 and 21.5% in 2021. "Telecommunication, computer and information services" was the third with the share of 11.7% in 2021.
The exports and imports of services were made with European Union at most
Services exports to the European Union in 2021 were 12 billion 688 million dollars, while exports to other European countries were 5 billion 614 million dollars. Imports from the European Union were 12 billion 164 million dollars, and from other European countries were 3 billion 562 million dollars in 2021.
European Union became the leading group of countries in Türkiye's exports and imports of services. European Union ranked first with the share of 36.5% in 2021 in terms of services exports; and the first in services imports with 43.5% in 2021.
Germany ranked first in services exports and Ireland in imports
In 2021, 28.2% of total exports were performed with Germany, the USA and the United Kingdom. Germany took the first place for services exports with 4 billion 130 million dollars with the share of 11.9%, the USA ranked second with the share of 10.8% and the United Kingdom ranked third with the share of 5.5% in 2021.
The top country for Türkiye's services imports was Ireland with the share of 10.6% and 2 billion 962 million dollars in 2021. Germany ranked second with the share of 8.6% and 2 billion 414 million dollars, and the USA ranked third with the share of 8.5% and 2 billion 387 million dollars in 2021. (ILKHA)
