In a post he shared on his social media account, Fahrettin Altun noted that it has been 42 years since "the coup d’état of September 12, 1980, which left a black mark on Türkiye's history."

Pointing out that Türkiye’s progress towards becoming a freer and more democratic country was impeded and the will of the nation was trodden, Altun said:

Our nation, which has been fighting for survival on these lands for centuries, has witnessed all kinds of betrayal, suffered great pain, and defeated those who attempted to stop its blessed march throughout history with an epic resistance on July 15. Those who targeted our struggle for a ‘Stronger Türkiye’ on July 15, as they did on September 12, should know that they would not be able to stop this nation or turn us away from our path. We stand tall with our nation; we stand by the steel-strength will of our nation.

Condemning all coups, memorandums and anti-democratic interventions targeting Türkiye’s political life, peace and stability, Altun commemorated all martyrs who defended the national will with mercy and gratitude. (ILKHA)
