President Rumen Radev is set to hold consultations with the parliamentary formations before giving the mandate of forming the new government.

According to Bulgarian constitution, the president first gives a government-forming mandate to the biggest parliamentary group in the National Assembly, which is Petkov's Continue the Change party.

If they prove unable to form a cabinet, the mandate next goes to the second biggest parliamentary group, who in the incumbent Parliament are GERB-UDF.

Kiril Petkov Petkov, a Bulgarian politician, economist, and entrepreneur, was elected prime minister of Bulgaria in the Parliament of Bulgaria on 13 December 2021, with 134 votes in favour and 104 against, and his new government was appointed on the same day by President Rumen Radev. (ILKHA)
