The helicopter left Capannori Lucca Tassignano airport in Lucca on Thursday morning to make an hour-long journey to Treviso in northeastern Italy, local officials said.
Search and rescue crews are searching for the missing aircraft in what officials describe as vast and largely uninhabited terrain.
According to media reports, the helicopter has seven people onboard - the Italian pilot, four Turkish citizens, and two Lebanese. (ILKHA)
