“We strongly condemn and reject the unfounded statements made by the Chancellery of the Federal Republic of Germany against our country,” the Ministry said.
“Germany’s participation in the smear campaign against our country, falling into the provocation trap of Greece, is unacceptable,” the Ministry underlined.
The Ministry emphasized that Ankara will continue to defend its sovereignty against violation of its country's airspace, harassment of its aircraft in the Turkish and international airspace by Greece.
“Greece is the only country in the world claiming airspace larger than the breadth of her territorial waters. Describing the flights conducted in the international airspace between 6 – 10 NM as a “violation of Greek airspace” based on this unlawful claim is, to say the least, obliviousness,” the Ministry added.
German chancellor Olaf Scholz called on Ankara “to refrain from provoking Greece” after the two NATO allies had traded accusations of over airspace violations with fighter jets. (ILKHA)
