Underlining that this move is a continuation by the British government of its support for the zionist occupation and its criminal and racist policies against the Palestinian people, Hamas said: “This deal encourages the israeli occupation to move forward with its racist policies against the Palestinian people, which undermines any prospect of establishing a free and independent Palestinian state, especially amid statements by the Israeli occupation leaders, in which they voiced their outright rejection of forming any independent Palestinian state.”
Hamas emphasized that the agreement also contradicted with the UK government's claim to adhere to international law that the israeli occupation violates on a daily basis by continuing its occupation, building settlements, imposing siege, demolishing Palestinian homes, displacing Palestinians, and confiscating Palestinian land.
“All of these practices have been documented by the UN and international reports, the latest of which was the Amnesty International report, which confirmed that the israeli occupation has been an "apartheid state" in a systemic and institutionalized way since its establishment in 1948,” Hamas said.
Hamas also denounced using a picture of the Dome of the Rock as the official label of the agreement and said: “This means that Britain accepts "Israeli sovereignty" over Muslim holy sites, in particular, and the occupied territories, in general, in violation of international law and international humanitarian law.”
“This indicates the British government, led by Boris Johnson, continues to be in line with the Zionist narrative of the Palestinian struggle.”
Hamas called on the UK government to immediately reverse this agreement and take the necessary measures to amend its policies to support the just Palestinian rights and compel the zionist occupation to abide by international law and give in to the Palestinians' demands for freedom, independence, and return.
