In Turkey, compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of registered vehicles increased by 11.0% and became 1 million 153 thousand 165 while the number of withdrawn road motor vehicles decreased by 11.2% and became 42 thousand 924. Hence, in 2021, the increase in motor vehicles registration became 1 million 110 thousand 241.     

In December, 65 thousand 562 road motor vehicle registrations were recorded

Regarding the vehicle registrations in December, cars accounted for 45.1%, followed by motorcycles 21.4%, small trucks 17.8%, tractors 10.7%, trucks 3.8%, minibuses 0.5%, buses 0.5%, and special purpose vehicles 0.2%.

The number of road motor vehicle registrations decreased by 26.1% compared with the previous month

In December, compared with the previous month, the number of road motor vehicle registrations increased by 63.2% for special purpose vehicles, while it decreased by 32.6% for cars, 26.7% for motorcycles, 22.2% for small trucks, 17.3% for buses, 10.7% for trucks, 6.0% for minibuses and 1.9% for tractors respectively.  

The number of road motor vehicles registered decreased by 23.1% compared with the same month of the previous year 

In December, compared with the same month of the previous year, the number of road motor vehicle registrations increased by 44.1%, 32.0%, 8.3%, 7.3% for trucks, motorcycles, tractors and small trucks while it decreased by 62.0%, 45.8%, 16.4% and 0.3% for special purpose vehicles, cars, buses and minibuses respectively.  

At the end of December, the total number of road motor vehicles registered reached 25 million 249 thousand 119

 At the end of December, cars represented 54.3%, small trucks 16.3%, motorcycles 14.8%, tractors 8.0%, trucks 3.5%, minibuses 1.9%, buses 0.9% and special purpose vehicles 0.3% of total number of road motor vehicles registered.

Among vehicles handed over in December, cars accounted for 67.5% followed by small trucks 16.7%, motorcycles 5.7%, tractors 4.9%, trucks 2.3%, minibuses 2.1%, buses 0.6% and special purpose vehicles 0.2%.  

In December, 29 thousand 558 cars were registered to the traffic

In terms of the distribution of trademarks for the new registered cars in December, Renault recorded 15.7%, Toyota 9.7%, Fiat 8.1%, Citroen 8.0%, Peugeot 6.9%, Hyundai 6.3%, Volkswagen 5.8%, Honda 5.6%, Opel 5.3%, BMW 4.4%, Skoda 3.8%, Audi 3.8%, Dacia 3.5%, Volvo 2.3%, Mercedes-Benz 2.2%, Ford 1.2%, Jeep 1.0%, Seat 0.9%, Kia 0.9%, Nissan 0.5% and 4.0% the other trademarks of the total.        

In the period of January-December 62.0% of cars registered using gasoline

Among 614 thousand 37 cars registered in the period of January-December, the share of gasoline-fuelled cars was 62.0% followed by diesel-fuelled cars with 23.6%, electric or hybrid cars with 9.2% and LPG-fuelled cars with 5.2%. At the end of December, among 13 million 706 thousand 65 registered cars, the share of diesel-fuelled cars was 37.6% followed by LPG-fuelled cars with 35.9% and gasoline-fuelled cars with 25.5%. The share of electric or hybrid cars was 0.7% and the cars with unknown fuel type was 0.3%. 

Most frequent engine size was 1401-1500 for registered cars in January-December period

Within 614 thousand 37 cars registered to traffic in January-December period, 29.0% had 1401-1500, 27.7% had 1300 or less, 21.4% had 1301-1400, 14.0% had 1501-1600, 6.5% had 1601-2000, 0.8% had 2001 and above engine size.   

In January-December period 249 thousand 362 of cars registered were white

Within 614 thousand 37 cars registered to traffic in January-December period, 40.6% of them were white, 27.8% were grey, 11.1% were blue, 7.8% were red, 6.4% were black, 2.2% were orange, 1.1% were brown, 0.7% were yellow, 0.5% were green and 1.9% were in other colors.      

Average age of vehicles registered to traffic was calculated as 14.5

By the end of year 2021, the average age of 25 million 249 thousand 119 road motor vehicles registered to traffic in Turkey was calculated as 14.5. Average age was 13.6 for cars, 15.0 for minibuses, 14.8 for buses, 12.8 for small trucks, 17.6 for trucks, 13.7 for motorcycles, 13.6 for special purpose vehicles and 24.3 for tractors.

In Turkey in year 2021, the average age of 8 million 815 thousand 613 road motor vehicles handed over was calculated as 12.6.
