According to Turkey’s Foreign Ministry, currently, about 150 thousand ethnic Turks live in Western Thrace, Greece.
This population constitutes the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace whose status was established by the Lausanne Peace Treaty of 1923 and whose rights were guaranteed by several bilateral and multilateral agreements.
However, the members of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace cannot enjoy their minority rights. (ILKHA)
