There was no oxygen flowing to ventilators for about 30 minutes, leading to the deaths, officials said.
“It's an unfortunate accident. According to preliminary information, we've learned that 22 patients died. We're trying to get a detailed report. We've ordered an enquiry as well. Those who are responsible will not be spared,” Maharashtra FDA Minister Dr. Rajendra Shingane said.
More than 100 patients are being shifted out to other hospitals, local media outlets reported.
Hospitals across India, the world’s second most infected nation with almost 14.8 million cases of coronavirus, are struggling to keep the oxygen supply going amid soaring demand. (ILKHA)
