More than 20 kilograms of drugs seized in eastern Turkey

Turkish security forces have seized more than 18 kg of heroin and about 2 kg of methamphetamine in the Ipekyolu district of Turkey’s eastern Van province, the Provincial Police Department said in a statement on Friday.

A suspected drug dealer, identified by initials A.İ., was remanded in custody after being arrested at the scene by anti-drug police.

Turkey maintains strict laws against the use, possession, or trafficking of illegal drugs. If convicted under these offenses, one could receive a heavy fine or a prison sentence of 4 to 24 years. (ILKHA)
