Coronavirus: Iran reports 6,527 new cases, 85 deaths in the last 24 hours

Iran has reported 85 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 57,736, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Thursday.

After 6,527 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 1,398,841 in the country.

There are at least 4,017 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, more than, 1,189,975 patients have been discharged from hospital after being cured.

So far, at least 9,125,076 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 2,186,606 with 101,529,722 cases and more than 73,441,147 recoveries. (ILKHA)
