Death toll from Turkey’s earthquake reaches 91

Turkey’s death toll from the massive magnitude 6.6 quake that hit Izmir province on Friday rose to 91, the country’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) said on Monday.

994 people were injured in the earthquake, of those, 220 are being treated in hospital at the moment, it noted.

So far, there have been 1225 aftershocks, 43 of them were greater than magnitude 4.0, it noted.

It added that search and rescue efforts to recover people trapped under the rubble continued at 8 collapsed or damaged buildings. (ILKHA)
