"After a series of telephone conversations with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, the President of Russia calls to stop the fighting ongoing in the area of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict for humanitarian reasons in order to exchange dead bodies and prisoners,” the statement said.

“The foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia are invited to Moscow on October 9 to hold consultations on these issues through the mediation of the Russian foreign Minister,” the statement added.

Heavy fighting between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces erupted in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region on September 27.
