Sağlam said: “Two villagers, Osman Şiban and Servet Turgut, were taken into custody by Turkish security forces in the Çatak district of Van province. Two days later it was revealed that they were in the intensive care unit of the Van Regional Training and Research Hospital. It was alleged that they were tortured and thrown from a helicopter. Unfortunately, Servet Turgut, who had been in intensive care for 20 days, lost his life on September 30.”
“A thorough investigation into this perilous incident should be launched immediately. We call on the authorities, in particular, the Parliamentary Commission on human rights to take the initiative to prevent lawlessness reminiscent of the dark periods of the 90s and to end arbitrary treatment,” Sağlam added.
