The number of fatalities from coronavirus rises to 23,952 in Iran

Iran has reported 144 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 23,952, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Friday.

After 3,049 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 416,198 in the country.

There are at least 3,869 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 355,505 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far, more than 3,691,399 have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 951,150 with 30,380,034 cases and more than 22,062,915 recoveries. (ILKHA)
