3 PKK members who came to Turkey to carry out bomb attacks from Syria were captured in Mardin by a joint operation of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and the gendarmerie.

According to local officials, they were plotting to carry out massive bombings against civil targets such as shopping malls and market places using C-4 plastic explosive in major cities.

The ongoing conflict between Turkey and PKK has resulted in nearly forty thousand deaths since 1984 when PKK waged an insurgency against Turkish State. (ILKHA)
