While 54.4% of this population were males, 45.6% were females. When immigrant population was examined by citizenship, 98 thousand 554 persons were Turkish Republic (TR) citizens and 578 thousand 488 persons were foreign nationals.

330,289 people emigrated from Turkey

Number of emigrants increased by 2% compared to the previous year and reached to 330,289 people in 2019. While 54.6% of this population were males, 45.4% were females. When emigrant population was examined by citizenship, 84,863 persons were TR citizens and 245,426 persons were foreign nationals.

25-29 age group had the largest immigrant and emigrant population

In 2019, it was seen that 13.3% of the immigrant population were in the 25-29 age group. This age group was followed by 20-24 age group with 12.2% and 30-34 age group with 11.6%, respectively. When the age distribution of emigrant population was analyzed, it was seen that 15.2% of them were in the 25-29 age group. This age group was followed by 30-34 age group with 13% and 20-24 age groups with 12.6%.

The province with the highest number of immigrants and emigrants was İstanbul

When immigrant population in 2019 were analyzed by provinces, it was seen that İstanbul had the largest immigrant population with the proportion of 45.3%. İstanbul was followed by Ankara with 9.2%, Antalya with 6.5%, Bursa with 3.5% and İzmir with 2.2%, respectively.

When the emigrants were analyzed by provinces, it was seen that İstanbul had the largest emigrant population with the proportion of 42.5%. İstanbul was followed by Ankara with 8.7%, Antalya with 5.4%, İzmir with 3.4% and Bursa with 3.2%, respectively.

14.5% of foreign immigrants were comprised of Iraqi citizens

Iraqi citizens took the first place in the foreign immigrant population in 2019 with 14.5%. This group was followed by citizens of Turkmenistan with 13.8%, Afghanistan with 8.2%, Syria with 7.5% and Iran 7.3%, respectively.

 Iraqi citizens once again took the first place in the foreign emigrant population with 23.9%. This group was followed by citizens of Iran with 7.3%, Afghanistan with 6.8%, Azerbaijan with 6% and Turkmenistan with 5.7%, respectively. (ILKHA)
